Being Inspired
The feeling of being inspired is something unlike anything else we can feel as people. It is such a fluid feeling and incredibly difficult to capture and nurture without proper accommodations. It is also fluid in the way that it can be similar to water in how it can fill every corner of the room and your brain and dry up, removing itself or changing its form just as fast. You have to capture it just the right way. One of my favorite things and most frustrating to overcome is the act of being inspired, similar to this exact moment right now, and not sure what to do with this light in my mind. Once the ball of energy that is inspiration reaches you, it is up to you to do something tangible with it. You have to take the seed given to you and plant it in the garden of your choosing. Otherwise, this ball of energy will find another host to be planted with. I can’t be mad at the universe for moving at its own speed, if I can’t keep up, I might not have been ready for the moment. Therein lies another question, when is the moment right? If you wait on something so fleeting and changing of shape to be just right before you interact with it, you can’t grow with it. You can’t learn more about it through interaction because while it might be ready to be sent off into the world, you could still be in the learning stages of the creative process and not ready to handle the fully fleshed out form of an idea that passes you. You have to pick and choose your spots but also be ready to latch onto one idea and see it transform into a totally different idea. It is like when people who join one career path give it up even after becoming accomplished in their field because their passion for creating something more personal, more fleshed out with them, supersedes their interests in this other field. It is rewarding to get the right from someone else to do something you want to do, like a job. It is another feeling of accomplishment to create that experience for yourself through growth and development of ideas that shape into a larger form, all because you allowed yourself to be inspired.
One of my favorite phrases is “deeper than rap”, which roughly means that whatever I am talking about has a deeper meaning than what I have implied already. Inspiration is most definitely deeper than rap. It comes from a deeply rooted place in your psyche that lights up like stars in the sky when you feel a certain sound or vibration. The image of any and anything can bring some form of inspiration to you for the simple fact that it is different and captures your attention. I love that about inspiration. You just never know when and where. You just know when you are inspired, you have to do something with it. In some ways, you have to be sort of delusional about what you believe in because if you don’t, you’ll feel free to back out at the first sight of a plateau or lack of energy. Once you’re inspired, you build up the light into something more and keep going until it meets its end organically. Lacking commitment to your ideas means sacrificing new unique additions to life, something only you can offer. You have to be crazy about something to stick with it long enough to see it grow into something.
